It was a very sad whirlwind of a week. It started last Thursday when we started to hear that friends and co workers were being laid off. 25% of our IT staff was cut, and it was so sad, especially now that I've become friends with so many of the ones laid off. On a positive note, I was spared. I don't want to jinx myself but I have survived every layoff so far since I've started working in general. With working in an industry that is directly affected by the highs and lows of the housing industry, this is saying a lot.
As a trade off for being spared from the layoffs, I now have to work in an office. I get to commute to downtown Seattle and work out of the Columbia Tower, the tallest building in Seattle. I have mixed feelings but overall, I am excited. I had only about 4 really good work outfits, so needless to say, I needed to find some more! So I went shopping, which was fun. Now, I just have to settle in and enjoy the ride. :-)
I am a little freaked out about going to school and working in an office, but so many people do it that I certainly can, right???? Right???? I have a strong support system so I really believe I will succeed. Two and a half more years to go!
